**Call for Papers: Special Issue of "Research in Educational Communication and Technology"**

The 145th special issue of *Research in Educational Communication and Technology* is themed "The Application of Digital Technology in Teaching Practices within Higher Education Classrooms." We cordially invite all faculty members engaged in teaching practice research to submit their manuscripts.

Founded by the Taiwan Association for Educational Communication and Technology, this journal aims to enhance the quality of classroom practices in education and to share the outcomes of teaching practice research. It welcomes original research articles related to educational technology and audiovisual communication, and its publications are indexed in the "Taiwan Journal Citation Index" and the "Taiwan Humanities and Social Sciences Citation Index." Since 2019, it has been recognized as a third-tier journal in the "Taiwan Higher Education Journal Evaluation and Core Journal Collection."

With the rapid advancement of digital technology, various digital tools have been widely adopted in classroom instruction across all levels of education. In recent years, under the Ministry of Education's initiative to promote teaching practice research in higher education institutions, a wealth of research has been accumulated, demonstrating the positive impact of information technology on teaching environments in higher education. This includes "enhancing student motivation," "developing innovative teaching strategies and methods," "optimizing classroom management," "innovating curriculum design," "developing teaching materials and tools," "improving assessment methods," and "promoting teacher professional growth."

Faculty members in higher education institutions are utilizing diverse digital technologies in university classrooms for teaching practices, such as generative AI, distance learning, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), flipped classrooms, real-time feedback teaching, interactive materials, simulation-based materials, AR/VR interactive content, video case studies, mind mapping, computer-assisted writing, computer-assisted language learning, and various forms of multimedia creation. Digital technology is also driving changes in teaching strategies in university classrooms, such as individualized instruction, group collaborative learning, project-based learning, and problem-based learning. These changes in teaching practices not only enrich the diversity of instructional methods but also help to enhance student motivation, improve teacher-student interaction, strengthen learning outcomes, and promote teacher professional development.

In light of this, the journal is issuing a call for papers with the theme "The Application of Digital Technology in Teaching Practices within University Classrooms," focusing on the practical use of digital technology in higher education. We warmly welcome submissions from faculty members across all disciplines to share research on classroom instruction that promotes student learning outcomes or innovative teaching practices. This will facilitate dialogue and exchange regarding the use of digital technology in university teaching and learning. The following are the suggested topics for this special issue (not limited to these):

- Application of flipped classroom instruction in university teaching practices
- Practice and reflection on MOOCs and distance learning
- Research on the application of online collaborative learning in teaching
- Research on the application of AR/VR and gamified learning in classroom instruction
- Design, development, and application of digital teaching materials, platforms, and assessment tools
- Impact of technology tool usage on teacher-student interaction patterns
- Professional development of teachers in applying digital tech
