**Seventh Taichung Meilide Park Design Competition Announcement**

The Taichung Meilide Park Design Competition, now in its seventh year, is pleased to announce the theme for this year is event: “A Livable and Accessible Meilide.” We warmly invite students from diverse academic backgrounds and cultural perspectives to participate. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative thinking, we aim to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas, challenging conventional frameworks and proposing forward-thinking, practical solutions for urban park development.

The competition is now open for registration, with submission deadlines set for May 15, 2026 (Friday). All universities and colleges across Taiwan, including both public and private institutions, are encouraged to participate and contribute fresh perspectives to the enhancement of urban public spaces.

**Competition Themes for the 2026 Seventh Taichung Meilide Park Design Competition:**

1. **Resilient Disaster-Resistant Park Design Challenge**
This category invites participants to envision parks as dual-use spaces—both recreational areas in daily life and emergency response hubs during disasters. Proposals should integrate flood retention and drainage systems, safe evacuation routes, resource storage, and emergency pathways. Innovative designs may include terrain-based water retention, plant-based protection/cooling systems, resilient infrastructure, and energy storage solutions. The goal is to create a “dual-use resilient space” that responds to extreme climate conditions while maintaining usability for both everyday recreation and disaster shelter.

2. **Fifteen-Minute Living Circle Creative Challenge**
This category focuses on improving accessibility and livability within local communities. Participants are encouraged to analyze user mobility patterns and key nodes within the fifteen-minute living circle concept. Proposals may include small-scale interventions such as wayfinding systems, shading structures, green corridors, seating arrangements, or micro-landscapes. The aim is to enhance community space accessibility, comfort, and resilience through feasible improvements.

To encourage outstanding student participation, the competition will award prizes totaling NT$262,800. We sincerely invite students from all institutions to seize this opportunity.
