**Announcement Regarding Expansion of Free COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage**
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a bulletin to the medical community, noting that winter is a peak season for respiratory infectious diseases. With the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday period, which involves frequent family visits and travel activities, the risk of COVID-19 transmission is expected to increase. Since it takes approximately two weeks after vaccination for full protective immunity to develop, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) under the Ministry of Health and Welfare convened a meeting on December 9, 2025 (R.O.C. year 114), and resolved to expand free COVID-19 vaccination coverage from January 1, 2026 (R.O.C. year 115) to February 28, 2026. The expanded eligibility includes all individuals aged six months or older who have not yet received the vaccine. This measure aims to enhance public immunity and reduce the risk of severe illness and death following infection.
Individuals who have not yet been vaccinated may consult the CDC’s official website or use the “Influenza & COVID-19 Vaccination and Antiviral Medication Map” to locate nearby contracted medical facilities. Appointments can be made by contacting these facilities directly.
