I. This announcement is issued in accordance with the letter No. 1151000047 dated January 20, 2026, from the National Center for the Performing Arts.

II. The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), internationally recognized under the name "Taiwan Philharmonic," is Taiwan's premier professional symphony orchestra. Under the artistic direction of internationally renowned conductor Jun Markl, the NSO has long been dedicated to promoting symphonic music, chamber music, opera, and cross-genre productions. Through its professional performances and educational outreach, the NSO showcases the diverse landscape of Taiwan's performing arts.

III. On March 21 and 22, 2026, at the Grand Theater of the Taipei Performing Arts Center, the NSO will reinterpret the classic orchestral fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf" through music and dance. Composed by Prokofiev, this renowned symphonic tale uses different instruments to represent characters and guides the audience through the narrative via music. Widely used in music education and pedagogy, this performance will be led by Wu Yao-Yu, current resident conductor of the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with choreographer Tung Yi-Fen, director Chen Yen-Pin, and dancers from Dance Space Dance Company. Inspired by Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" and "Classical Symphony," this production integrates music, dance, visual arts, and stage design to present a multifaceted exploration of musical storytelling and stage artistry. Suitable for student audiences, it serves as an exemplary model for performing arts education.

IV. To enhance students' exposure to performing arts, this program presents a cross-disciplinary format combining appreciation of performing arts, creative thinking, and integrated learning. It aligns with the Competency-Based Curriculum Guidelines for Twelve-Year Basic Education in the "Arts and Humanities" domain, emphasizing competency-oriented learning and interdisciplinary studies. This event is both artistically enriching and educational, making it suitable for family participation as well as an extension of school arts and humanities courses or field trip planning. We sincerely invite schools in northern Taiwan and neighboring counties to disseminate this information to their faculty and students.
