I. Centralized Collection Schedule and Locations
Main Campus: Every Wednesday, 9:30–10:30 a.m., at the Laboratory Waste Liquid Storage Facility.
Jianguo Campus: Every Wednesday, 9:00–9:30 a.m., behind the security office.
II. Precautions for Infectious Waste Disposal
Infectious waste bags (red) must be securely tied (see Attachment 1) to prevent exposure or leakage.
Remove excess water and blood before disposal to reduce weight.
Each unit must clearly label infectious biomedical waste with the originating unit, date, and weight at the time of disposal.
Needles, blades, suture needles, and other sharp instruments must be placed in puncture-resistant containers.
Laboratory consumables, empty chemical containers (glass, metal, plastic), syringes, infusion sets, and similar waste must be disposed of in accordance with the University’s hazardous waste classification and handling regulations. These items may not be discarded in regular floor garbage areas. Violations will be subject to legal liability.
III. Temporary Storage Conditions for Units
Infectious waste:
1.Above 5℃: may be stored for up to 1 day.
2.0℃–5℃: may be stored for up to 7 days.
3.Below 0℃: may be stored for up to 30 days.
Sharps waste: may be temporarily stored for up to 1 year.
IV. Disposal Regulations for Infectious Sharps Waste
Must be stored separately from other waste.
Must be sealed in sturdy, puncture-resistant containers, placed in boxes, and then enclosed in red infectious waste bags.
V. Procurement of Consumables and Labels
Infectious waste bags (red): Request through the “University Administrative System – Inventory Request.”
Label stickers: Obtain from the Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety Center or print independently (see Attachment 2).
VI. Required Actions at Time of Disposal
Ensure all infectious waste is securely packaged.
Clearly fill in “Laboratory Name, Date, and Weight” on the label sticker and affix it to the red infectious waste bag.
After submitting infectious waste, each unit must complete and sign the weight record form.
