「天下沒有白吃的午餐」這句大家耳熟能詳的諺語，源自美國，並由經濟學家高希均教授於1977年在臺灣大力引進與推廣。高教授一生致力於傳播進步觀念，對臺灣的經濟、文化與教育發展貢獻卓著。
在《高希均回憶錄》中，高教授以溫潤而深刻的筆觸，回望九十年的人生歷程，從赴美求學、學術研究，到參與出版與社會公共事務；一段人生，也是一部臺灣社會與時代變遷的見證。
